West Ham cult heroes (who were a bit shit)
A poster on here has just mentioned Samassi Abou - that is a blast from the past. That got me thinking of cult heroes who were a bit shit.

Samassi Abou - not really that good but scored a few goals, had a big barnet and above all, liked for a name which allowed the chant 'Aboooooooooooooo'

Tomas Repka - A cult hero who always gave 100% despite his obvious limitations. Still playing btw aged 40.

'Mad Dog' Martin Allen - Dreadful discipline. Not the most talented but again, always gave it his all.

Can't think of anymore. Please feel free to add....

I watched all Foe's games for us, and he was average at best.

Mind you, I'm debating with someone who loved Repka, so I'm guessing you're not exactly a student of the game.

Repka is the stand out for this, absolutely shocking footballer.

Foe was a bang average player, obviously horrible what happened, but there's definitely selective memory for his actual ability.

I loved Repka.......

Foe was bang average?

you are a fucking knob. When he came to us I always said he wouldnt be here long because he was too good for us. So yeah for a bang average player he went on to a bang average team didnt he

Remember how James Collins got his second yellow against Tottenham? An opposing player put the ball past him, but straight into West Ham possession, and Collins still just had to bring the opposing player down?

Straight out of the Thomas Repka book - only it wasn't a one-off with TR, as if pushing the ball past him was an affront to his manhood.

Not through my eyes he wasn't, all he had going for him was his height, very limited ability, he wasn't appreciated at West Ham because he wasn't very good, he is looked back on with fondness because of what happened.

McCartney, on the other hand, is massively underrated by anyone who doesn't understand football properly.

Foe was a bit better than average. Wasn't appreciated as much as he should've been when he was at West Ham, iMO.

Another vote here for Fletcher. Loved his goal against Spurs and was genuinely pleased for him when he started in the Cup Final, as much as I liked Mullins and his suspension was unfortunate.

McCartney is another one. Limited player but reliable in both his spells and seemed to enjoy playing for the club.

Will always have the most time for the players who actually give a shit about the club and the fans.

Yeah they won't help us win anything, but they prove on the pitch what the club means in their hearts and that they arent just mercenaries.

All of them already mentioned with George, dailly and repka topping the list for me. Those fuckers would run through brick walls for the club.

Keith Robson , a cult heroe for sure but not sure he qualifies for being a bit shit !

Remember the first 5 minutes of most games the fans egged him on to put his opposing player in either the west side or chicken run and he normally obliged.

Recall one game an Ipswich player , I think but not sure was George burley , was giving him niggling tackles from behind he just stopped turned and floored burley . I recall he walked off before being sent off .

Cult heroe in my book
